Day of Caring is a ready-made marketing opportunity for your organization. Don't miss this opportunity to show off your organization to potential donors, volunteers, the media, and clients. Be creative and get the message out about what your organization does.

  • Welcome your volunteers with a banner and make them feel at home at your organization.
  • Prepare an information packet about your organization for your Day of Caring volunteers.
  • Give the volunteers a brief tour of your organization and a short orientation to your programs. Keep it brief: they will be anxious to get started on their project!
  • Invite the volunteers to return later in the year, for instance, to see the blooming daffodils that they planted, or to participate in an activity at the recreation center they painted.
  • Feature your volunteers in your organization member/donor newsletter, on your website, in an e-newsletter to your Board of Directors, and in Letters to the Editor (to thank your volunteers). Please share any published items with United Way for our Day of Caring scrapbook.
  • Take before and after pictures to display at your organization and send them to your volunteers with a thank you note from your clients or staff.

If you have any further questions, please email Day of Caring project manager Libby Richardson or call (860) 493-1109.
