Organization
Coordinator Checklist
This checklist is
designed to help ensure that Day of Caring is a wonderful
experience for you and your organization’s staff. We strongly encourage
you to communicate with your assigned Day of Caring workplace
coordinator in advance and to share all relevant information with your
organization’s staff. The following steps will help you prepare:
q
Contact the workplace coordinator
q
Confirm project site information—directions, parking, accessibility,
restrooms, etc.
q
Confirm volunteer arrival time and anticipated departure time
q
Share
information about appropriate dress for Day of Caring activities
q
Confirm Day of Caring supply needs and whether volunteers are
requested to bring supplies (ie. rakes, ladders, tools, etc.)
q
Create
back-up project plans, if necessary, in case of inclement weather
q
Discuss whether your organization is providing lunch for volunteers or
whether volunteers are to bring their own; discuss who will provide
water for volunteers during the project
q
Confirm whether the project will involve direct client contact and
whether there is any information volunteers need to know about
interacting with the clients
q
Identify a back-up organization contact person in case of emergency and
exchange cell phone numbers with the workplace coordinator
q
Provide general information about the organization in advance of Day
of Caring and provide an introduction and/or tour of the
organization on Day of Caring
q
Communicate your appreciation to the volunteers before, during and after
Day of Caring
