Preparing for Day of Caring

Check this list, and check it twice. It will help you and your employees prepare for Day of Caring.

Submit the names of the volunteers for each project no later than July 25th. It is essential that these names be spelled correctly, and that contact information is provided. Please be attentive to the deadline for registering volunteers. Last minute additions and changes significantly impact final preparations. If your volunteer team is extremely large, you may e-mail an Excel spreadsheet to Libby Richardson.
Communicate with all team members so they know what their project is, how to dress, where to meet, what tools to bring, and what they will be doing. Communicate the importance of upholding their commitment to the organization at which they will be volunteering. When you select a project, the organization is counting on all of your volunteers.
Make sure everyone has their Day of Caring t-shirts and knows to wear them on Day of Caring.
Procure supplies/safety gear as requested by the organization.
Develop an inclement weather strategy with the organization. How will you contact all volunteers if your project is cancelled? Make sure all volunteers know how they will be contacted in case of inclement weather.
Arrange for transportation (carpools, distribute directions, etc.).
Sign any liability forms requested by the organization, your workplace, and/or United Way.

If you have any further questions, please email Day of Caring project manager Libby Richardson or call (860) 493-1109.
