Workplace Coordinator Checklist

This checklist is designed to help ensure that Day of Caring is a wonderful experience for you and your employees. We strongly encourage you to communicate with your assigned Day of Caring organization coordinator in advance and to share all relevant information with your co-workers. The following steps will help you prepare:

Contact the project coordinator
Confirm project site information—directions, parking, accessibility, rest rooms, etc.
Confirm volunteer arrival time and anticipated departure time
Ask about appropriate dress for Day of Caring activities
Confirm Day of Caring supply needs and whether volunteers are requested to bring supplies (i.e. rakes, ladders, tools, etc.)
Inquire about back-up project plans, if necessary, in case of inclement weather
Discuss whether the organization will provide breakfast and/or lunch for volunteers or whether volunteers are to bring their own; discuss who will provide water for volunteers during the project
Confirm whether the project will involve direct client contact and whether there is any information volunteers need to know about interacting with the clients prior to Day of Caring
Identify a back-up organization contact person in case of emergency, and exchange cell phone numbers with workplace coordinator(s)
Ask the organization to provide general information about their organization in advance of Day of Caring and to provide an introduction and/or tour of the organization on Day of Caring

If you have not already received your Day of Caring t-shirts, please make arrangements to pick them up at the United Way of the Capital Area, 30 Laurel Street, Hartford, CT, 06106.
