Where Does Money Go? In 2003, nearly 90¢ out of every dollar was used to fund seven areas of need: Ensuring Children are Successful, Strengthening Families, Providing Basic Human Needs, Supporting Older People, Increasing Self Sufficiency, Fostering Healthy and Safe Neighborhoods, and 37 Community Health Charities. The United Way Community Campaign funds more than 125 health and human service programs ranging from teaching positive alternatives to violence for youths to providing shelter and food for the homeless. The United Way Community Campaign is committed to ensuring that donations go to agencies that will use them efficiently and effectively to help people who need help the most.
